DIY Owl Pictures

One of my friends was expecting a baby last year and wanted to decorate with owls. They decided not to find out the sex of the baby, so she had to decorate very gender neutral. For her baby shower I made an owl card off of the Cricut machine and she loved it. She was struggling with what to do above the baby’s crib, so I suggested we make a bunch of these owl cards and then frame them. She loved the idea.

We went to Michaels and picked out 10-12 sheets of paper to be used for backgrounds and the owls. We also picked out 8 frames to “house” these made owls. We used the smaller Cricut machine, so the largest owl we could have was 6”. This owl design can be found on the Wild Card Cricut Cartridge.

We grouped the papers with those we wanted to go together. Then we decided to do 4 4 ½” owls and 4 3 ½” owls.

As you can see the eyes and the nose have the background colors. We did that on purpose as we liked that look. When the owl is cut out of the machine it’s for a card, so there’s a background per se there. For the above picture, the background would’ve been brown. We cut that along the folded part of the card and discarded the back part. You could leave the green off the for the eyes if you wanted to, but we liked giving it some more color.

Here are the eight all together:
